Finding out how to get a liquor license is no big a deal. If you want to serve large quantities of alcohol either at a private event or as a restaurant or bar owner you will have to get a liquor license. This license allows you to serve all your guests liquor in a legal manner. Every country and state has spate laws and norms that define its liquor license rules.

To begin your liquor license search you will need to first identify the requirements as desired by your state government. There are various departments in the state government which have different responsibilities and jurisdictions. Your will first need to identify which department is responsible for handling liquor licenses. You can get this piece of information quite easily through the internet by looking through the website of the state government.

Once you have located the department that you need to head to, you will need to identify which type of a liquor license you shall be requiring. The type of license you apply for will be dependent on your type of business and the liquor license options that are offered by the state. There are some governments that differentiate between hard liquor and other types of alcoholic beverages. You will also need to consider this aspect when you are applying for your liquor license.

There are two main types of liquor licenses. One is the retail liquor license which allows the retailer to sell all types of alcoholic beverages including wine. The other type of liquor license is the bar and grill liquor license which is required by any establishment planning on selling liquor on its premises. This license allows the party to serve and sell liquor to any person of legal drinking age who is within the specified bar or lounge premises.

There are special events liquor licenses that you will need to avail of in case of a special event. These licenses, also called permits, are for a specific time frame based on the length of the event.

Once you know what type of a liquor license you need for your venture you will have to go through the documentation process. Be careful in reading the license documentation so that you don’t skip any error while applying for the license. You will need to read and understand the liquor laws, liquor codes, application requirements and violations and penalties. It is best to educate yourself on all the aspects of holding a liquor license so that you can conform to the regulations, norms and rules.

Knowing where to collect the application form for your liquor license is the next step when you want to know how to get a liquor license. You can collect this from the concerned department at the government office or can also see if the department provides an option to get the same online. Once the necessary information has been duly filled, you will need to submit the same to the concerned authority with the required documentation. Since most liquor license applications require a payment you need to make sure that you have the right payment option so that processing delays can be avoided and you can receive your liquor license easily.

There is no better way to impress yourself and the guests in your house with some homemade liquor. Homemade liquor begins with your selection of spirit which in most cases is vodka. Since vodka is colorless and odorless, it becomes an excellent base for liquors. You can easily make some popular liquors such as coffee liqueur, Irish Cream or Amaretto with vodka.

Apart from vodka, whisky, brandy, rum and gin infusions also work wonderfully when making homemade liquor.

When you want to make homemade liquor, you need to first select the flavor that you want. There are two main ways in which you can flavor a spirit. One is by adding the extract of the flower or plant to the spirit. The other method is more laborious but reaps a greater reward. Here you will have to select the flavoring agent in its raw form and then add that to the spirit. This mix should be allowed to rest for a few weeks to get the maximum kick.

As the liquor infuses with the fresh ingredients and flavoring agents you will get an amazingly rich and flavorful liqueur. For example, a cordial made with fresh lemon zest will taste much better than the one made with lemon extract. However, in the case of some liqueurs such as the almond liqueurs, using a good flavoring extract works just as well, if not better.

Once the alcohol and the flavorings for the liquor have been combined, the mix should be allowed to rest for a while. This liquor and herb mix then is be transferred into an earthen pot or a glass bottle which has a tight fitting lid. This bottle now should be kept in a cool and dark environment.

Since most modern houses don’t have cellars where constant room temperature is maintained, you could put your container in a dark cupboard. In the absence of a dark cupboard, wrap the bottles in grocery bags and keep rotating them a couple of times in the day.

The flavorings for the liquor need to be steeped in the alcohol from a period ranging anywhere between a couple of days to a few weeks. If it is a fruit liquor that you are making then it will take two to four weeks for all the flavors of the fruit to be absorbed into the alcohol. Fresh spices and herbs on the other hand do their job well in a few days.

Once the flavoring of the homemade liquor has been achieved, you will need to filter your spirit. Fruit fusions especially have a lot of sedimentation that gets collected at the base of the container. To get a smooth and clear liquor you will need to line your strainer with a coffee filter and then pour the liquor into the bottle where you want to store your liquor. All that is left to make your liquor perfect is adding sweetness to it. Make sugar syrup with two parts of sugar and one part of water. Simmer this mix till the sugar dissolves completely and then add it to your liquor once the infusion has reached room temperature. Age your liquor for a few months and then it is ready to serve.

Liquor comes in many colors but nothing is as royal looking than a green liquor. A liquor is a form of an alcoholic beverage which is flavored with a host of ingredients such as fruits, nuts, herbs, spices, plan roots etc and has a lot of additional sugar added to it to make it sweet in taste. Some of the very popular green liquors are Crème de Menthe, Absinthe, Midori and Green Chartreuse.

The most popular amongst all green liquors is the Crème de Menthe. It is a very sweet mint based green liquor which gets its flavor from Corsican mint. This liquor can be served as an after dinner drink and finds excellent use in cocktails such as Stinger and Grasshopper. It forms an essential part of making mint chocolates and can be found in both green and colorless forms.

The color of the Crème de Menthe is derived from the mint leaves. At times additional color is added to the liquor if mint extract and not mint leaves are used to prepare it. Since this is a very sweet and concentrated liquor a little bit of it goes for a long way especially as dessert toppings.

Absinthe is a liquor which has a very high alcohol percentage. This is a green liquor which is flavored with anise and gets its unusual flavor from a concoction of herbs, sweet fennel, green anise and essentially the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium, a herb which is popularly known as “grande wormwood”. Also referred to as ‘the green fairy’ or ‘”la fée verte” in French, Absinthe is not the quintessential liqueur. Since this naturally green or colorless beverage is not bottled along with sugar it doesn’t become a liqueur but becomes a spirit. Though Absinthe is diluted with a high proof of alcohol, it has to be a little diluted with water before consumption.

This drink has Swiss origins but achieved its popularity in France in the 19th and 20th century. Absinthe was particularly popular amongst the artists in France, especially the writers and painters. In the 1800, Absinthe was given to the French troops as a treatment for malaria. The drink became so popular with the troops that they brought it back home with them. Gradually Absinthe was being served at every conceivable place and the 5P.M. hour came to be known as ‘the green hour’.

Green Chartreuse is a type of Chartreuse liquor which is made from herbs. It is naturally green in color. Almost 134 plans go into the making of the Green Chartreuse. It derives its green color from chlorophyll.

Midori is green liquor which is made from green melons. These melons are exceptional in their taste and are sourced mainly from the Yubari region in Japan. These premium melons are the hardest variety of melons to grow and accounts for only one percent of Japans total melon production. This beverage was first made in 1899 and as its name suggests its means ‘green as an emerald’. This drink was born in Japan but has made it in the international circuit when it was raved about in the International Bartenders Associations’ Cocktail Championships in 1971. Following the success of the drink in the US, it was subsequently launched in Europe and today, is available in more than thirty countries across the globe.

French liquor is known the world over. Much like French food and everything else that is French, French liquor is unusual and exquisite in taste. They form an integral part of the French way of life and are used not only for after dinner sipping but also as an excellent ingredient to make a classic dish come to life. Liquors are used extensively in French recipes and are also used in making special cocktails.

One of the most popular of all the French liquors is Benedictine. It was developed in the 19th century by Alexander Le Grand. It is a herbal liqueur and is made with almost 27 herbs and spices.

The recipe of Benedictine liquor was developed by the monks in the Benedictine Abbey in Normandy. It was used as a medicinal beverage and the abbey produced it until its destruction during the time of the French Revolution. It was after that that Le Grand developed the formula which is now in use. The recipe is a well guarded secret and many attempts have gone into replicating but have failed.

The other famous French liquor is Chartreuse. It was again the French monks who were at work very hard in producing this fabulous liquor. This liquor was being made by the Carthusian Monks since 1740. It was developed as an elixir that gave the promise of a long life. This liquor is made with distilled alcohol and contains over 130 herbal extracts. This is also one of the few types of liquor that continue improving even after it has been bottled.

There are two types of Chartreuse varieties. One is the Green Chartreuse and the other is the Yellow Chartreuse. The green Chartreuse contains 132 plant extracts and gets the green color from chlorophyll. The yellow Chartreuse contains comparatively fewer plant extracts and is more aromatic and sweeter than the green variety.

Cointreau is a triple sec liquor made in the suburbs of France. Though it has been imbibed as an aperitif it is also used as a ‘digestif’. It has an alcohol content of 40% and is considered a bit too strong for a triple sec. This liquor distillery was established in 1849 by Adolphe Cointreau and was called Cointreau Distillery. The recipe of this liquor is a Cointreau family secret. However the distillery remains open for visitor tours.

The Crème de Menthe is a very famous French liquor. This liquor was also Hercule Poirot’s, Agatha Christie’s famous Belgian detective, favorite drink. This liquor is very sweet and minty to taste. There are two versions of this drink, one which is clear and the other which is bright green. It is an excellent after dinner drink and goes exceptionally well with desserts, especially ice cream.

When we are talking of French Liquors, one has to mention the Grand Mariner. This liquor is a type of triple sec and is made with aged cognac. What gives this drink its exceptional taste is the Bigardia oranges. All the oranges used to make the Grand Mariner re cultivated in Caribbean plantations and are picked when they are at the height of their flavorful aroma. This drink was invented by Louis-Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle over 120 years ago. The popularity of this drink hasn’t waned and is still considered one of the best after dinner drinks.

.
